If you have a car, it is a little tricky to navigate. You will drive past the stadium and after the Roadman Park sign, on the right, slow down and look for a right turn. Take the turn and drive down into the parking lot, near the red barn. If you do not have a car, you can take a bus up to the Stadium, turn so the stadium is behind you, and walk across the field. We will most likely have a more senior member of the club taking the bus, so they can help you find the field.

Joining a chess club offers college students valuable cognitive, social, and career benefits. Chess enhances critical thinking, problem-solving, and focus, skills that are essential for academic success. It also provides a productive break from studying.

Welcome to the PennWest - Clarion Chess Club!

Joining a chess club offers numerous benefits for college students, both academically and socially. Chess is widely known to enhance cognitive abilities such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and memory, which are all essential skills for academic success. The game's strategic nature requires players to think ahead, anticipate their opponent’s moves, and adapt quickly to changing situations. These skills translate well to academic environments, as they can help students approach their studies with a more analytical mindset, manage their time effectively, and make better decisions under pressure.

Chess also provides a productive way to relieve stress, offering students a break from the pressures of college life while still engaging their minds. Playing chess helps students enter a state of flow, which can reduce anxiety and improve focus, enabling them to return to their studies with a refreshed mindset. For students who often feel the strain of constant studying and exams, chess offers a constructive and intellectually stimulating escape.

On a social level, chess clubs create a space where students can form connections over a shared interest. This fosters a sense of community, enabling members to meet others outside of their immediate academic circles and potentially form long-lasting friendships. Chess clubs often host regular events and tournaments, which encourage teamwork, friendly competition, and mutual support. These interactions can improve social skills, build confidence, and make students feel more integrated into their college community.

Furthermore, being part of a chess club can boost a student’s resume by showcasing their commitment to intellectual pursuits and their ability to work collaboratively. Employers often value candidates who display these qualities, so participation in a chess club could provide an edge in the job market. Altogether, joining a chess club in college can lead to both personal growth and academic achievement, making it an excellent choice for students looking to enrich their college experience.

Tobeco is the literary arts journal for PennWest-Clarion, and Tobeco welcomes members of the PennWest university and community to submit literary and art works for possible publication in our yearly journal. Members of Tobeco enhance their writing, reading, and editing skills, while creating new friendships and working closely with professors and local writers. We host open mic nights and writing events throughout the school year. Tobeco also works in conjunction with several other on-campus organizations to create a stronger literary community.

The Wood Furniture Club is for students that have taken courses in the Art Department's Wood Studio and are looking to participate in Wood Club activities, such as field trips, group exhibitions, fundraising sales, and going to conferences.

Welcome to the online portal for the Edinboro University Wood Furniture Club. This club is linked to the wood concentration area of the studio arts major here at Edinboro. We are devoted to enhancing the educational opportunities for students enrolled in the concentration and minor programs. These opportunities include taking semesterly trips to visit museums, local practicing artists, and nearby universities that offer similar programs. We also bring in a visiting artist every year to perform demonstrations right in our studio.

Membership Benefits
The Wood Club is intended to help students interested in woodworking to make social and information sharing connections. By attending conferences and workshops, hosting visiting artists, and organizing fundraising sales and group exhibitions, students can gain experiences and connections that will aid their transition from school into the professional art world.
